Tabriz Islamic Art University was approved during the meeting of the members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution with the Supreme Leader, following his remarks on Islamic art. It was established in the year adorned with the name of Imam Ali (1378 SH / 1999 AD) in the buildings granted by His Excellency.
In line with the policy of expanding the scientific and cultural space of the metropolis of Tabriz and considering one of the university’s key missions—namely, the preservation, restoration, and revitalization of historical buildings—the historic and deteriorated structures of the Khosravi Leather Factory and ten old houses in the Maqsoudiyeh neighborhood of Tabriz (initially covering 8,000 square meters and now expanded to 22,000 square meters) have been beautifully restored, reinforced, and revived over the past two decades through the relentless efforts of the university’s faculty, staff, and students.
